Maternal Child Nurse from Japan Tours Hot Springs Hospital

Namiko Sugaki, a maternal child public health nurse from Hot Springs’ sister city of Hanamaki, Japan, toured the hospital to learn more about the compassionate care provided to our patients.

In her role as a public health nurse, Namiko visits mother and baby after they leave the hospital to ensure the baby is eating well and the family has what it needs to thrive. She also assesses for any signs of post-partum depression.

The purpose of her trip was to learn how we care for mothers and infants and to take back beneficial processes to her community.

Namiko spent four days in Hot Springs, touring the ED, 4West and Anthony Childbirth Center. She also visited the Arkansas Health Department, a pediatric clinic and met with city officials.
