CHI St. Vincent Heart Clinic Arkansas Volunteers at the Marathon

Marathon2016 HCA Volunteers

The team from Heart Clinic Arkansas and co-workers throughout CHI St. Vincent volunteered at the 2016 Little Rock Marathon, held the weekend of March 5-6. Physicians, nurses and other non-clinical co-workers staffed the finish line hospital, tents and the medical substations along the 26.2 mile course.

During the marathon, over 400 runners received some sort of care from our volunteers ranging from ibuprophen to IV rehydration. This is the eighth year Heart Clinic Arkansas has been the medical team for the Little Rock Marathon. Dr. Jim Shuffield, Heart Clinic Arkansas continues to lead as the medical director for the medical team and was supported by cardiologist Dr. Scott Rypkema, Dr. Lynn Davis and hospitalist Dr. Bilal Sadiq.

Marcia Atkinson, vice president, provided administrative leadership over our team of 56 volunteers.  The LR Marathon supports community health and wellness by providing funding for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Recreation.
