Barry Glaspy Presented with DAISY Award

Congratulations Barry Glaspy, RN, Infirmary, for being recognized with a DAISY Award.

Barry works as a staff nurse on 8W inpatient behavioral health and was nominated by a coworker.

The coworker who nominated Barry said there was a patient that was escalating and getting angry with staff. Barry stepped up to the nurses station and listened to the patient. He gave the patient his undivided attention. The patient then calmed down and apologized for their behavior.

The coworker said Barry is always a team player that will help his fellow nurses when they are overwhelmed. Barry also always goes out of his way to make patients feel important and special.

“Anyone who meets Barry will see that he is a hard worker and that he has a real passion for nursing. He always listens to what people have to say and he truly cares about others.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the national award to thank nurses everywhere.
