CHI St. Vincent North – A New Vision for the Future

ani-campusRead the recent announcement from Chad Aduddell regarding our North campus:

I’m excited to announce a new vision for CHI St. Vincent that will allow us to serve more patients and expand our ministry. Over the next 15 – 18 months we will be repurposing our facilities at North to create a destination Neuroscience Institute!

Specifically, we plan to:

  • Renovate North and relocate the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute (ANI).  This move will create a destination center for neurosciences unlike any in our region. Patients will have access to a wide range of specialists and subspecialists armed with the latest technology and expertise—all in one location.
  • Simultaneously expand and grow our Heart and Orthopedic programs as well as develop other emerging programs at the Infirmary.

Why?

We must continue to grow and build a sustainable ministry in Arkansas and realize our commitment to make CHI St. Vincent a great place to work, practice medicine, and deliver excellent and compassionate care.

  • Under the direction of world-renowned surgeon, Dr. Ali Krisht, ANI performs more than 1,000 intricate surgeries each year. We have greatly exceeded our capacity at the Infirmary to meet the needs of our patients and their families.
  • By utilizing our North campus, we are able to maximize the use of existing assets, minimize the necessary capital investment and better serve those seeking advanced treatment.  The renovations planned for this year include:
    • Expanding the ICU  – Build-out 3rd floor shell space to accommodate 10 additional ICU rooms and related nursing support areas
    • Adding 3T MRI
    • Adding an Angiography Suite
    • Modifying the OR & adding specialized equipment
    • Constructing a helipad
    • Relocating the pharmacy

We realize that this vision is actually more about people than construction and location. During this transformation, we will be recruiting and hiring additional staff for North as well as providing training for new and existing staff so that we can provide the best care possible to help patients recover from a neurological disorder.

Ultimately, our plans include building an Education and Research Center adjacent to the North hospital that will be home to the ANI administrative offices, research labs, 250 seat auditorium, and large conference room. A new generation of surgeons will travel here to learn the skills necessary to tackle the most complex cases and positively impact survival rates for patients. This facility is being funded solely through philanthropic donations.

Impact on Existing Services at North

  • Our Emergency Department will continue normal operations and begin to see increased neuro patients as the Institute emerges as a regional center. We are currently developing a timeline and a process on shifting referrals and transporting patients from the Infirmary to North.
  • Cardiology and general inpatient services will maintain standard operations at North.
  • Over time, we anticipate doubling the number of ANI patients and anticipate the majority of neurosurgical care will be provided at North. In the best interest of patient care, some emergent/trauma care for neuroscience patients will continue at the Infirmary.

Interdisciplinary teams from the Infirmary and North will be engaged in the detail work of this transition and we will keep you informed about the exciting progress of this project.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our ministry.
