Emily Batterton Wins Daisy Award
Emily Batterton, RN, was the February 2017 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses winner at CHI St. Vincent. Batterton is a nurse on 3 West in Hot Springs.
Here’s an excerpt from her nomination letter:
“I have been in and out of the hospital four different times since 2015 and she has been a nurse present on each and every stay of mine, throughout all the days I had to stay. She took the time to explain certain things that I had to have done and that were new to me, like going home with a PIC line in my arm to receive IV antibiotics and the importance of keeping it clean, etc. She got to know my past medical problems and present medical problems. She knew I suffered from bi-polar disorder. She made me feel like I mattered as a person and was not a bother to her if I needed anything.”
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
