Pat Brown Receives Infirmary Daisy Award

Pat Brown, a nurse on 4E at the Infirmary, received the February Daisy Award.

A patient’s child nominated Pat, noting the care and compassion she showed after her mother experienced an excruciating headache following surgery.

“She prayed for mom and sang for my mom. I have never seen the sheer amount of compassion from one person. God truly sent an angel to my mom’s room. This nurse is more than just a caregiver; she is family.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
