Senior Centers Designated Arkansas Senior Wellness Centers
The CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Senior Center in Hot Springs and the CHI St. Vincent McAuley Senior Center in Hot Springs Village have been designated as Arkansas Senior Wellness Centers by the Arkansas Division of Aging and Adult Services.
Joining 21 other centers, the Hot Springs and McAuley centers are the forefront of the drive to improve and strengthen the evolving role of senior centers as integral partners in the long term continuum of care; alongside those clinical components of good health.
“The role of the senior center is and should be to provide community based assistance and opportunities to those elders seeking to maintain their independence and involvement in community life for as long as possible. The designation as an “Arkansas Senior Wellness Center†not only celebrates healthy life; it affirms the Center’s place in the health and wellness field,†said Diane Harry, Senior Services Director for CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. “We are very proud of the healthy focus of our centers’ programs and staff who have worked diligently to provide those activities and events that focus on and support good health for area seniors.â€
“It’s a great step forward for both the Hot Springs Senior Center and the McAuley Senior Center in the Village to earn the designation of Certified Wellness Center,†said Tim Herr, Executive Director, Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas. “CHI St. Vincent and all the staff of the senior centers should be commended for their dedication to helping all the seniors in this area.â€
