Service Hero for Nurse Who Shepherded Care for Patient
Congratulations to Nikki Clemons, RN in Morrilton, on behing recognized as a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero! Nikki received this honor after going well out of her way to take care of a patient who had very little support. Here’s her nomination:
“I would like to nominate Nikki Clemons, RN, to receive a service hero award for her concern for an elderly patient who is facing an unplanned major surgery with limited knowledge of the procedure and post-op care involved. She used printed educational materials with pictures and demonstrated the medical equipment that would be required postoperatively. This patient had been scheduled in outpatient the week before, and she was aware of his limited support system at home. He became ill the day he was to have his procedure in outpatient and was admitted to the hospital. He was therefore unable to complete the procedure. Nikki learned his surgery was being delayed and stayed to speak with him and answer any questions he might have.”
Nikki, this level of deliberate, compassionate care is commendable. Thank you for making sure our patients are as well supported as we can make them.
If you know of a coworker who has gone above and beyond for a patient, family member or a coworker, you can nominate them for a CHI St. Vincent service hero award! To get started, click this link and fill out the form to tell us why they’re so deserving.
