Showing Gratitude Can Relieve Stress

By Debra Staton, Wellness Coordinator for the Arkansas Health Network

Can showing gratitude help reduce our stress?

It turns out being appreciative can actually decrease our cortisol level (stress hormone), which in turn decreases our stress. An “attitude of gratitude” releases dopamine in the brain and can impact our mental and physical health.

In order to promote a healthy workplace, we want to create a culture of overall wellness in our mind, body and spirit. While proper nutrition and exercise is a vital piece of our wellness, we must remember to create a healthy and happy mindset.

Fortunately, the power of gratitude is a tool we all have within us. Start improving your overall well-being and showing your gratitude with the 30-day Gratitude Challenge.

All coworkers who complete three activities each week of the challenge will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Three winners will be announced.
