The Giving Team
CHI. St Vincent’s Values in Action Team volunteers the fourth Saturday of every month to support The Giving Team’s Food for Thought monthly food, nutrition, and resource fair in Hot Springs. The collection of agencies reaches hundreds of underserved community members with a focus on food and basic needs, preventative health services, hygiene, and much more. The Giving Team struggles to afford healthy options like eggs, dairy, meat, and produce, especially given the growing population of people in need e.g. seniors, families, and the working poor. CHI St. Vincent’s support allowed them the ability to purchase several months worth of food for the more than two hundred in need that attend the event monthly.
“According to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, an estimated 17.5% of Arkansans over 60 are either food insecure or face the threat of it. My eight year old son and I have attended this event, bagging food, and handing it to people in need. Many in line were seniors asking how old he was and telling him how handsome he is until his face turned red. It’s hard to see anyone in need of food, but especially our most vulnerable. It’s an honor to work alongside groups like The Giving Team to meet the needs of those most in need.” – Mandy Davis, Director of Community Outreach
“We don’t hold back food. Nobody leaves without something in hand. It’s support like this that makes it possible. As the Founder of The Giving Team, I am truly grateful to CHI for recognizing our 4th Saturday resource allocation program. The partnership is needed, we stand as a bridge for better health and nutrition.” – Janice Davis, The Giving Team, INC Founder
