Angela Burton Wins DAISY Award

Congratulations Angela Burton, RN, for being named a DAISY Award winner! Angela works in the ED in Hot Springs and was nominated by a coworker for this honor.

“Angela’s commitment to her patients is truly remarkable.”

The coworker who nominated Angela said she always takes the time to listen to patient’s concerns, answer their questions and address their needs with a kind and caring demeanor. She also goes the extra mile to ensure that her patients receive the highest quality of care, and her attention to detail and thoroughness in her work is truly commendable.

“Angela has a genuine passion for nursing and a heart of gold. Her positive attitude and infectious smile brighten the days of those around her, and she is an inspiration to all who have the privilege of working with her.”

Angela recently moved into a new role as the stroke coordinator for the hospital. A patient came in the ED and when Angela heard the stroke alert paged out she immediately got up from her office to help the team.

She helped this patient and family through one of the most difficult times as they decided to give their loved one tenecteplase, or TNK, to help resolve the stroke. TNK is a drug that dissolves blood clots in certain blood vessels.

This event happened on a Friday and as many nurses do, she took this case home with her, thinking about it all weekend and wondering how that patient was doing. First thing Monday morning, she went to the floor to check in on the patient and her family. She then made it a mission to go see this patient everyday throughout her stay in the hospital.

“Angela Burton is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse. Her dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to her patients make her truly deserving of the DAISY Award.”
