Coming Soon: A New MRI Experience at North
Patients at CHI St. Vincent North will soon have a highly improved MRI experience. Construction began earlier this week on a GE Healthcare 1.5T Signa Artist MRI, which will replace the current 1.5T Siemens magnet.
Patients will benefit from a 50% reduction in scan time and increased image resolution, which will allow for scanning of complicated conditions and complex anatomy. For those patients that experience claustrophobia, the new device will scan feet-first to help reduce anxiety. The machine also has a 500 pound weight capacity and a 70cm bore.
Construction on the MRI area at North should take approximately 5 months.
