Coworkers Provide Flu Shots to Homeless, Low-Income Families in Central Arkansas

On Saturday, September 28, 2024 the Divine Mercy Health Clinic set up at the Cathedral of St. Andrew to serve people experiencing homelessness, low-income individuals and families in need. The clinic utilizes a mobile medical model to create community connections to help the lower income population.

The clinic is also led by Dr. Lee Wilbur who works for CHI St. Vincent. The volunteer team at St. Andrew called the Mission Department asking if St. Vincent could help provide flu shots at this clinic.

The mission team worked with pharmacy to provide 40 shots to adults and children in need. RNRPs also showed up to help give shots and provide a lot of laughs to ease fears.

“There was a community need and we were able to quickly organize to meet it – that’s success! Our team collaborated with the other providers at the clinic to serve the whole person including food, hygiene kits, lab work, biometrics and more. Access to healthcare is typically a top community need making our efforts to take healthcare to people in need where they live work and play essential,” said Mandy Davis, Director of Community Outreach.

“I love this and had no idea opportunities like this existed. I’ll come everytime,” said Ashton Taylor, CHI St. Vincent Infirmary RNRP.
