Hot Springs Doctor Named Service Hero for Special Sutures

Sometimes we care for patients, sometimes we care for their families. And sometimes the need for care goes even beyond the people we encounter. That level of care is what has led to a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero honor for Dr. Kenneth Williams, Emergency Department physician in Hot Springs. Dr. Williams was on duty when a little girl arrived needing some special attention. Here’s the nomination:

“On a particularly hectic day, a little girl arrived in the ER with her beloved teddy bear, which had been accidentally damaged. The emotional distress she experienced was palpable, and it was clear that her attachment to the toy was significant. Dr. Williams, demonstrating remarkable empathy, immediately took action to help. He carefully sutured the teddy bear, treating it as if it were a real patient in need of care. What truly sets Dr. Williams apart is that this act of compassion caused him to stay past the end of his shift. His willingness to invest extra time and effort to ensure the little girl was comforted reflects his deep commitment to his patients and their families.”

You won’t find many greater examples of compassionate care than that. Thank you, Dr. Williams, for this act of love to someone in need. If you know of a coworker who deserves to be recognized, nominate them for a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero award! Click this link and fill out the form to tell us about them.
