Hot Springs ED Nurse Giving the Gift of Life

One of our Hot Springs ED nurses, Andrew Terauchi, has chosen to be a living donor for his brother, Jonathan who is living with a rare chronic liver disease, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. To date, there is no actual cure. Jonathan has been suffering from this disease for 14 years and has seen a slow progression that has led to the need for a liver transplant to save his life.

Andrew pursued the donor work up and was deemed a match. In August, they were given the green light to proceed with the living donor transplant.

Jonathan has set up a campaign to help Andrew and his family cover living expenses during his time of healing after the surgery.

“We want to show awareness in any way that we can. There are so many ways you can help someone–in my case I’m so thankful that my brother would risk his life to try to save mine.” -Jonathan
