Humankindness Award for Infusion Manager

Congratulations to Nikki McDowell, Manager of the Infusion Team, on receiving the Chick-fil-A Humankindness Award for September! Nikki was nominated for her stellar work in taking care of patients and staff during the transition from LRDC to the Infirmary. Here’s her nomination:

“Nikki has worked tirelessly with the LRDC infusion group over the past few months, planning and making sure we made them feel welcomed to this campus. While this sounds easy, it actually caused lots of bumps in the road. Infusion patients like their norm, their own chair and their ‘home’ while getting treatments. Moving to a new location caused lots of angst to patients who like familiar surroundings.

“Nikki worked with many people to help make the transition an easy one. She accommodated schedules to keep patients from that clinic on their regular schedule. She did signage, worked with others on parking, transportation. She made sure to keep the staff updated on changes while listening to their concerns. The biggest thing she had to do was to calm patients and staff, while working through issues. She always did this with a smile and kind demeanor to make the patients feel safe and happy.”

This transition was a massive undertaking, and Nikki is more that deserving of the Chick-fil-A Humankindness Award for making it go so smoothly for patients and coworkers. Thank you, Nikki!
