Hot Springs Opens New Stepdown Unit
Over the Labor Day weekend, CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs opened its new stepdown unit. The 12 step-down beds on the third floor will provide an important transition unit for patients that have stabilized in the ICU and no longer need that intensity of care, but still need closer monitoring than can be done on the med-surg units.
“I am also excited that these beds will provide additional capacity to allow us to continue our remarkable growth that we have been able to achieve the last several years,” said Dr. Doug Ross, Hot Springs President, Market SVP/Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Ross wanted to commend the efforts of Dr. Hollis, Dr. Keithley, and Dr. Mustafa for their help in developing the care protocols on the unit, and Trish Nicholas for her efforts in operationalizing these protocols and staffing the unit.
A special thanks also to the facilities team, EVS team, pharmacy team, respiratory care team, and materials team and so many others in helping to bring this unit to life.
“I am excited that more patients in our community will get to experience our physical, emotional, and spiritual care in these additional beds,” said Dr. Ross.
Before its opening, leaders and team members gathered for a blessing of the new unit.
