John Reyes Named Service Hero at the Infirmary
John Reyes was named a Service Hero at the Infirmary for displaying the value of EXCELLENCE.
John was working on 2NW with a patient who was having open heart surgery the next morning. The man’s son stopped by to see his dad before his surgery. The son was wearing a suit and tie preparing to leave for a prior engagement. However, a button had popped off the son’s jacket. He asked for some thread, and John went to a nearby unit and found a suture kit.
John took the man’s jacket and sewed the button back on. John told the man that he had enough going on with without worrying about the jacket. The man was impressed and asked if John does that for everyone. John replied that he tries to do at least one nice thing a day for someone. That small gesture of kindness is the type of kindness we should provide everyone.
