Kristie Hudson Wins Daisy Award

Kristie Hudson, RN, was the March 2017 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses winner at CHI St. Vincent. Hudson is a nurse on 4 NE at the Infirmary.

Here’s an excerpt from her nomination letter:

“Every day my nurse takes care of my son. I am very appreciative. There is nothing that she does with my son without explaining it to me. She also communicates with my son and treats him like a cognitive human. If she repositions him in bed or performs any daily activities, she explains why or the purpose. She is very knowledgeable and professional about her job duties. She takes care of my son like family and also tries to make him comfortable and asks him how she can be of assistance to me as well. She encourages me to be positive and hopeful. This really makes me worried free and positive about my son’s healthcare when she is on duty. Thank God for the days that she is working with my son.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
