Kristin Darton Helps Calm Behavioral Health Patient for Critical Medical Attention
Congratulations Kristin Darton, RN, for being named an Infirmary Service Hero!
Kristin was nominated by a coworker for her excellence during a difficult time on 8 East, the Behavioral Health Unit.
There was a patient that was put into seclusion upon admission. This meant that staff were unable to get any urgent blood or urine specimens.
After giving the patient some time to rest, Kristin went and spoke to them. Kristin was able to get the patient in a cooperative state and made sure that she was fed, able to vent and completed her lab work.
“Thankfully, Kristin’s patience and persistence with obtaining the blood draw yielded critical results.”
The doctor was notified and the patient was happy to receive care. This all happened because of Kristin’s determination and humankindness.
