March Is Nutrition Month—See How We Celebrated

March is National Nutrition Month and our clinical nutrition team coordinated a number of activities throughout the system. Several days each week, patients were treated to a couple of “healthy food” word search games on their trays, and cafeteria customers were greeted with colorful table tents highlighting hydration, eating fruits and vegetables and healthy dairy products, as well as being a role model for your kids with physical activity and meal preparation.

Each facility passed out bags of fresh fruit for our nursing units to celebrate National Nutrition Month. The clinical dietitians were honored with a luncheon and small gift to celebrate all the great work that they do. At the Infirmary we had 3 different activities in the cafeteria, led by the clinical dietitians, and played “Name that Spice” game and guess how many calories are in a breakfast meal. Patrons were rewarded with prizes, while sampling Mindful entrée options. More and more Americans are recognizing the fact that health and well-being are connected to sound nutrition practices. National Nutrition Month is a good reminder that dietitians can provide the information to keep you and your family healthy.
