Patient Access Clerk Recognized as Service Hero
We’re happy to announce that Mecca Barbee, patient access clerk at North, has been honored as a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero! Mecca is one of the first people that our patients at North interact with, and she’s had many of them call out her compassion and empathy during their registration.
One such case stood out from the others. Mecca is responsible for making sure patients fill out their intake and registration forms before they see a provider. However, one patient that she gave a form to couldn’t read or write. So instead of making the patient self-conscious, Mecca took him to the side and went line-by-line down the paperwork, filling in every detail and making sure the patient was set up to get the best care possible. A great patient experience starts well before a patient ever sees a provider, and Mecca made sure this patient had the best experience possible.
Thank you, Mecca! Your attitude is a shining example for all of us. If you know of a coworker who also looks out for those around them, make sure to nominate them for a Service Hero award! Just click this link and fill out the form to tell us about them.
