According to the USDA report released in 2024, Arkansas has the highest rate of food insecurity in the United States. Since then, CHI St. Vincent has been committed to doing its part to find ways to reduce food insecurity across the market.

In the spirit of this commitment, CHI St. Vincent in Morrilton recently made a pledge to provide a hot hearty lunch to The Safe Place residents once a month starting in December. The Safe Place assists victims of domestic violence by providing emergency shelter, self-help and support groups, life-skills training, community education and assistance with filing Orders of Protection and accompanying victims to court. Safe Place volunteer, Mrs. Patty Davis, picked up enough food to feed
11 individuals earlier this week. A big thank you to the staff that walks alongside the victims daily in hopes of a better life.

“The residents of the shelter were so overjoyed with the meals. They felt special and like someone cared about them and what they were going through. It was such a blessing for each one. Our staff really enjoyed seeing their response. Such a simple, thoughtful thing brought such great blessing! Thank you!” – Mary Wood, The Safe Place Executive Director
