North RN Takes DAISY Award After Glowing Review

We’re thrilled to announce that Jennifer Coffer, RN, at the ICU at North has received the DAISY Award! This is a national honor for nurses who demonstrate extraordinary patient care. Jennifer was nominated by a family who wrote at length to sing her praises. Here’s what they had to say:

“My wife and I are both RNs with advanced degrees and we have both been in health care for a very long time. Over the years we had both become jaded to the healthcare industry: broken promises, not keeping one’s word, no follow-up after promise of follow up, money driven, all the things. The staff on 3E ICU restored my faith in the healthcare system, specifically Jennifer. She always kept her word. She showed up when she was supposed to, and even when she wasn’t supposed to. She listened to my concerns, she became an active part of my healthcare team and made it obvious through her actions, how much my wife and I meant to her. And, as a result, we brought her into our worlds; she became part of our family, even if only for a while. She was always extremely transparent (within her scope of practice) and ALWAYS went the extra mile, whether that meant getting me a popsicle, or ice chips, or going to the cafe to get me a special order breakfast because I had slept through mealtime. She answered my call bell within minutes every time I called. She knew her meds inside out and always gave me in-depth answers when I had med questions (and warned me if something was going to burn, like Keppra). Jennifer was a real person and didn’t shy away from engaging on a life level with both my wife and I. She is the type of person I’d work with at any time, on any shift, in any place. Solid as a rock. Genuine, compassionate (with the exact amount of sarcasm I needed!), funny, engaging. Just a real human, and a shining example of doing what RN’s are supposed to do: bring total healing to the body, mind, and soul. Florence would be proud. In my book she has already earned a DAISY; now all she needs is to have it given to her.“
