Renee Fechuch Recognizes the “Human” in Humankindness
Congratulations Renee Fechuch, Clinical Director of Nursing, for being recognized as a Hot Springs Service Hero!
Renee was nominated for the award by a coworker.
“It is so powerful when our leaders remind us that we are here to demonstrate humankindness first and foremost.”
The emergency department recently had an elderly patient come in who had not seen her husband in over a month. The husband was also ill and had been staying at the hospital for a while.
Unfortunately, the wife had medical issues that were better served at another hospital and was going to be transferred. She was distraught because she was worried that she would never see her husband again due to his failing health.
“Renee heard about this situation and was visibly touched. She came to the ED, loaded the patient in a wheelchair and took her to reunite with her husband prior to her transfer.”
The coworker said so many critically ill patients are seen in the emergency department that it is easy to focus on medical problems and miss seeing the afflicted human, but Renee saw the need and exhibited humankindness.
