Shawn Barnett and Marcia Atkinson Commissioned as New Leaders

In a moving and reverent ceremony Shawn Barnett was officially commissioned as the new Infirmary chief operating officer, and Marcia Atkinson was commissioned as the new president of the Heart Institute.

The ceremony included opening remarks by Chad Aduddell, CEO; and Deb Roybal, Vice President of Mission Integration, led the reflection and the blessing of hearts and hands.

The leader commissioning ceremony provides a time of quiet reflection on the magnitude of our work. This is especially important as a faith-based entity serving others in the example given to us by Jesus.

The word commission means “to formally entrust an individual or group with a special body of work.” Our leaders have been called to our ministry and seek to serve the common good and promote human flourishing. The commissioning process allows us to pause and to affirm or renew the commitment to serving a higher purpose.
