Tonya Johnson Talks Coworker Food Pantry in Podcast Interview
CHI St. Vincent Market Director of Food and Nutrition Tonya Johnson was recently the featured guest on Wonks at Work, a podcast by the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI). Tonya came on to talk about our coworker food pantry and how it helps our employees with healthy meals and fresh produce for their families. You can listen to the full podcast interview on ACHI’s website or on Spotify or Apple podcasts.
Arkansas struggles with food insecurity more than almost any other state, and that’s why we have our coworker food pantries. Any employee is welcome to come, no questions asked. Just show your badge and take home food. Our food pantries work with the cafeteria to freeze and individually portion any leftover food from lunch and dinner service. We also work with Arkansas Foodbank to ensure fresh produce is available. And we receive donations from a number of area businesses to stock items like cereal, canned goods, and even cleaning supplies.
Here are the regular hours for both locations:
- Hot Springs food pantry: Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 – 4 p.m.
- Infirmary food pantry: Monday 12:30 – 3 p.m. and Thursday 9:30 a.m. – noon
