Adam Wallace Receives September 2017 Daisy Award

Caring for our coworkers is just as important as caring for our patients. That’s why we want to recognize Adam Wallace, RN in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU), as a Daisy Award winner.

“I recently floated to the NSICU- I am an ED nurse who is currently on a med-surg contract and had never been to NSICU nor was I familiar with post-op neuro patients. Though I was only up there as a functional float, I was very curious about all the equipment, meds, drains, etc.  I wanted to know more and Adam was excited to answer every question. He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to answer all 3 million questions I had. He took pride in the vast knowledge he had and was wonderful at sharing that knowledge with me. He was just as wonderful answering all his patients questions. On top of that, the amount of time and attention spent on ensuring his patients’ every need was met, including a bed bath fit for royalty! Though he’s a young nurse and I’ve been a nurse much longer than him, he went above and beyond for me as a coworker and for his patients and their family.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
