Alex Truotte Named Service Hero at Infirmary

Alex Truotte was recognized as a Service Hero at the Infirmary for displaying the value of EXCELLENCE and COMPASSION.

Alex was nominated by a coworker after going above and beyond to research how to perform a specialized MRI.

A patient presented with an MRI conditional spine stimulator. Doing MRIs on patients with these implanted is highly particular and very detailed; protocols have to be followed precisely.

Alex took it upon himself to research what conditions needed to be met. The exam required numerous technical conditions both for the stimulator and the MRI scanner. The scanning of the patient with the stimulator required highly customized sequences to be built in real time while scanning the patient. Alex had all the information required and techniques to build sequences printed out and fully available.

Alex spoke with the patient and walked him through the process step-by-step. After the exams were done, the patient thanked everyone in the department for how he was handled and treated.

“It was awesome that Alex was this willing and motivated to do these things, without even being asked. He immediately took the initiative. The patient was very impressed and his nerves were eased with how prepared and thorough things were done.”
