Bariatric Support Group Wins Service Hero Team Award

Congratulations Ashlee Stewart, Diabetes Educator Dietitian, and Christle Loudermilk, RN, Bariatric Program Coordinator, on being recognized as Service Heroes!

Ashlee and Christle are a part of the Bariatric Support Group in Hot Springs and were nominated by a coworker for the award.

These two coworkers “live our mission, care for our community, and have compassion.”

When Ashlee and Christle were leading a patient support group, they were having a conversation about the upcoming holidays. As they were giving advice on what healthy food options to prepare, one of the patients made the comment that they did not have family here and would not plan to have a big Thanksgiving meal because of limited income. 

Ashlee and Christle were both touched by this. One extended an offer to the patient to come share a meal with her at her church; the other then had an idea that the two coworkers would organize a meal for the whole support group.

They had a Friendsgiving so that they could all dine together as family.  A church donated turkeys while Ashlee and Christle took care of the rest!
