Blood Drive Helps Replenish Supply Sent to Orlando

The blood drive held at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary on June 13 and 14 was featured on KTHV-TV 11 in Little Rock this week. Arkansas Blood Institute officials confirmed Monday that blood from its inventory was shipped to One Blood, a Florida-based blood bank that aided victims of Sunday’s nightclub shooting. Paulette Nieuwenhof, executive director of Arkansas Blood Institute, said Blood Institutes in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma were all on standby to send more blood if needed. #CHILivingOurMission

“We encourage everyone to donate blood, to keep that inventory up, because you never know when the need arises,” Nieuwenhof said. “One patient could use 21 units of blood, so it goes fairly quickly.”
Arkansas Blood Institute, which serves 23 hospitals around the state, is adding to its inventory with a two-day drive at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.
