We’re Celebrating Nurses Week by Highlighting Their Great Work
Brenda Duncan, RN in Outpatient, received a DAISY Award at Hot Springs. Following is an excerpt from her patient-submitted nomination:
She took excellent care of me after I got out of surgery recover. She showed me she cared and explained things so that it was very easy for me to understand. She worked extremely hard and quickly because she knew I was ready and anxious to go home. She truly went above and beyond. I’ve never had a nurse care for me and show me as much care as she did. She is very deserving of this award. I hope my words are adequate to explain how special she is.
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
