Congratulations Molly Powers, July DAISY Award Winner

Molly Powers, RN in the CCU at the Infirmary, was recognized with a DAISY Award for comforting a patient.

The patient said she nominated Molly because Molly not only treated her medical condition, but her mental wellbeing as well.

Molly took the time to answer the patient’s questions, find answers and dry her tears.

The patient also recalled that when the doctor discharged her with medication requiring twice a day injections, Molly walked the patient and her husband through the process to make sure they were confident doing it themselves at home.

“Nurse Molly Powers is the embodiment of humankindness. The best thing I can say is I hope every patient at St. Vincent is blessed with a nurse as skilled as Molly.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the national award to thank nurses everywhere.
