Connie Pugh Wins November DAISY Award

october15daisyconniepugh3Connie Pugh, RN, has been named a November 2015 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at CHI St. Vincent.

Pugh is a Registered Nurse on the 3 Northwest Mother-Baby Unit at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.

Here’s an excerpt from Pugh’s nomination letter written by a patient:

“It is not common that in the medical field with all its business that one easily sees the face of Christ as well as I saw it in the actions and attitude of my nurse, Connie.  I have now had two children here at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary and she has guided me through those initial nights with patience and true love of her role.  Connie truly helped me to fall in love even more with my babies.

Furthermore, the night I first arrived, she also had a patient that many other people could not have kept.  She recognized a woman in great need and attended to her intrinsic value and dignity.  She taught me even more about love through her example of selfless care for another.”

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
