Ellen Eddings Deemed “Lifesaver” and Service Hero
Congratulations Ellen Eddings, Patient Care Coordinator RN, on being recognized as a Service Hero!
Ellen works in MICU at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs and was nominated by a patient.
A patient needed to get a CT Scan and the nurse taking care of the patient was having trouble finding a wheelchair with an oxygen tank holder.
Ellen noticed this from behind the desk where she was working and, without hesitation, she got up and grabbed the oxygen carrier by its handle and said, “let’s roll.” The patient said Ellen stayed throughout the test and wheeled the tank back to the unit.
Once the patient got back into their room, they said they were struggling with all the wire.
The patient said they were amazed that Ellen saw this even with the curtain partially closed and, once again, was right there to help.
“There was no hesitation, no questions asked, just immediate care. I guess that’s what really counts…somebody on the ball. I guarantee you, she is certainly a lifesaver, Kudos to Ellen Eddings.”
