Hannah Gurney Recognized as Service Hero

Congratulations Hannah Gurney, BSN, RN at CHI St. Vincent North for being presented with the service hero award.

Hannah was nominated by a coworker for her compassion toward a patient.

A patient has been in the hospital for almost 100 days, unable to go home and hadn’t had any visitors during his stay. The patient was worried about always being in a hospital gown and really wanted some underwear, shorts and t-shirts.

Hannah took it upon herself to go to the store and buy him all the things he wanted.

“She gave the patient part of his dignity back.  Hannah went above and beyond her call of duty.  This is true compassion.”
