Hot Springs Med History Tech Honored for Helping Young Patient
We’re proud to announce that Brenda Rutherford, Med History Tech in Hot Springs, has been recognized with a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero Award! Brenda was honored for her actions during a difficult situation in the E.D., when a family arrived after surviving a car crash. Here’s the nomination:
“…a four-year-old patient was brought in following a car accident that also involved the child’s parents, who were injured and unable to be present. Understanding the fear and anxiety that a child in such a situation would experience, Brenda immediately stepped in to provide comfort and support. While the medical team worked to assess the parents, Brenda ensured that the young patient was not alone and scared. She held the child’s hand during various procedures, including IV insertions and X-rays, offering soothing words and reassurance. Her presence alone brought a sense of calm to an incredibly distressing situation, demonstrating not only her clinical skills but her profound empathy and dedication to patient care. Brenda’s actions went well beyond her regular duties; she provided a lifeline of comfort to a vulnerable child who desperately needed it at that moment. Her ability to connect with patients and their families reflects the very essence of what it means to be a healthcare provider.”
What a powerful display of humankindness! Thank you, Brenda, for going above and beyond for this young patient and their family.
