Thoughts and Prayers for All Affected by Hurricane Irma
Today we hold many people in our thoughts and prayers, including our CHI colleagues who telecommute from Florida and all those affected by Hurricane Irma; and, our Texas colleagues and others in recovery from Hurricane Harvey. We also remember the events of September 11, 2001, and honor those who lost their lives in terrorist attacks on that day.
We would like to express our gratitude to our colleagues at CHI Memorial, Chattanooga, TN, who are helping provide care to storm victims in both Texas and Florida. Several nurses and paramedics from CHI Memorial, as well as an ambulance, are now in Florida; and, CHI Memorial in Chattanooga is receiving and helping evacuees from Florida who need dialysis, medications or other medical attention. Chattanooga itself is now in the path of the storm and expects to receive heavy rain and high winds late Monday into Tuesday.
If you would like to help victims of both these storms, please remember:
- A fund to help Texas colleagues affected by Hurricane Harvey has been established; you can make a donation here. We’re also working on a plan through which employees will be able to donate PTO to colleagues in Texas; we will provide more information soon.
- Employees who reside in a Federally Designated Disaster Area and have been impacted by either storm can apply for assistance from the CHI Emergency Disaster Relief Fund.
- Ongoing support is always available to CHI employees and families through our Employee Assistance Program.
- Any CHI employee is always welcome to reach out to our HR and Mission leaders for support. They are ready to help at any time.
At times like these, it’s good to be able to draw on the spirituality that is alive in our workplace and the strength we give to each other as we help our colleagues and their communities heal. Thank you all for your continued commitment to our ministry of health.
