Infirmary, North & Morrilton Cerner Upgrade Scheduled for Oct. 20
A Cerner upgrade for Infirmary, North and Morrilton will begin Friday, Oct. 20 at 8 pm and will last about 7 hours. All orders should be placed on paper beginning at 7 pm.
Downtime boxes and upgrade education will be distributed to units on Thursday, Oct. 19 in preparation for the downtime.
All systems, i.e. STAR, PACS, etc., will be available during the Cerner downtime. Admissions, discharges and transfers will not be reflected in the read-only version of Cerner but will be reflected in the new Cerner system when it comes back up. Please refer to STAR for accurate patient census information.
Pyxis machines will be on override. The patient will be in Pyxis as this information comes from STAR**
Once the system comes up, the following information must be re-entered into Cerner per Electronic Health Record Downtime Process Policy.
- For all patients, orders written on paper during downtime should be entered by nursing into the EHR with the following exceptions:
- Pharmacy will enter medication orders.
- Lab/Respiratory/Radiology orders collected during downtime will be entered by the performing departments as they enter results.
- Orders that have already been completed.
- For patients admitted during downtime, the following nursing documentation should be entered into the EHR when the system is available:
- Height, Weight, Allergies, Last Known Well (FirstNet)
- Medication History, Smoking Status, Clinical Trials Documentation, Advance Directives
- Immediately following the recovery of the EHR system, electronic MAR reconciliation should occur utilizing the paper MAR.
Clinical Informatics will be engaged in upgrade activities during the entire downtime process. Rounding will be conducted at all facilities on Saturday, Oct. 21.
