Infirmary RN Honored with Service Hero Recognition

We want to congratulate Andrea Garlapati, RN at the Infirmary, on being named a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero! Andrea was nominated by a patient who was facing some stressful news when they were transferred to the stepdown unit. Here’s the nomination:

“Andrea was my night nurse on the stepdown unit at SVI. Upon transferring to the unit, I was worried about some recent test results I had received. From the moment I arrived, she was a bright light and her calming demeanor immediately put me at ease. On the day of my discharge, I was released late. Andrea personally retrieved a wheelchair and took me downstairs herself, rather than waiting for transport. Despite being incredibly busy, the time she took to ensure I was cared for truly embodies the core values of CHI St. Vincent. 2NW unit is incredibly lucky to have her!”

Thank you, Andrea, for caring for your patient’s heart as well as their medical needs! Don’t forget, nominations for a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero can come from anyone, including coworkers!
