Infirmary RN Receives DAISY Award for Gentle Care
Congratulations to Chinedu Okeke, RN on 5W at the Infirmary, on receiving the prestigious DAISY Award! Chinedu was recognized for his remarkable care of an elderly patient who was in an impaired mental state while she was in the hospital. Here’s the nomination from the patient’s daughter:
“Our 96-year-old mother was hospitalized for flu, dehydration and altered mental status. Even though our mother could not communicate, Chinedu treated her with caring, kindness and respect. He always spoke gently to her, called her “ma’am” and asked permission to care for her. He always listened to all of our concerns and answered all of our questions. He tracked her many meds with thoroughness and diligence. Chinedu is an extraordinary nurse and a wonderful person. We are so glad that our mother improved so much during her stay that she could appreciate Chinedu too.”
Thank you, Chinedu, for having such a compassionate spirit and attitude of helpfulness to your patients. You deserve this honor!
