New Coworker Food Pantry Coming to Hot Springs
CHI St. Vincent is opening its second coworker food pantry on Tuesday, June 10, in the old daycare building in Hot Springs. The food pantry will provide free take-home food for coworkers, including fresh produce and flash-frozen meals from the cafeteria. Tuesday’s grand opening will also feature more than 700 pounds of fresh watermelon that will be given away.
The new Hot Springs food pantry comes after the success of the Infirmary location, which has given out more than 20,000 meals and 15,000 pounds of fresh produce since it opened. On average, the Infirmary food pantry gives away 300 frozen meals and 600 pounds of produce every week. The ministry, called “Feed Thy Neighbor,” is designed to serve CHI St. Vincent coworkers who may have difficulty with higher food costs and access to healthy food choices for their families.
Starting June 10, the Hot Springs food pantry will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-3 p.m. Any CHI St. Vincent coworker is welcome to participate. Simply come to the food pantry, wait in line, show your badge, and fill your shopping bags! Quantities are based on household size and are limited, so come early for the best selection.
