North ED Physician Named Service Hero

We are excited to announce that Dr. Ryan Waters, physician in the ED at North, has received the CHI St. Vincent Service Hero Award! During a recent shift, Dr. Waters showed the compassion and human-centered care that we should all strive for. Here’s his nomination:

“Dr. Waters recently helped a patient that did not have insurance and was struggling to afford her prescribed meds. Instead of simply writing a prescription, Dr. Waters took extra time to research and find her an affordable option. He showed true compassion, patience and kindness in making sure she received the treatment she needed without unnecessary financial burden. What stood out most was not only his effort but the way he treated the patient, with genuine care, respect and empathy. He thoroughly explained the meds and answered all of her questions. His actions reflected the heart of medicine that doctors truly care about their patients as people, not just as cases. He went above and beyond the normal expectations, embodying compassion, professionalism, dedication to patient-centered care. He made a lasting impact not just on the patient but also on those of us who witnessed his actions.”
