North Receives Pathway to Excellence Designation
We’re pleased to announce that CHI St. Vincent North has been recognized with the Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center! North becomes only the second hospital in Arkansas to receive the Pathway to Excellence distinction, following CHI St. Vincent Morrilton.
The Pathway to Excellence program recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate a commitment to building a healthy workplace for nurses and staff. Organizations must first complete a document review demonstrating excellence in six standards that are essential to developing a positive practice environment for nursing:
- Shared decision-making
- Leadership
- Safety
- Quality
- Well-being
- Professional development
After passing the review, organizations undergo an independent survey of their nursing staff to validate the findings of the documentation. North was well ahead of every milestone needed to achieve Pathway to Excellence designation.
“It demonstrates that you’ve built this amazing culture where patient safety and patient- and family-centered care are paramount,” said Valerie Morrison, commissioner on Pathway to Excellence. “You have an organization where nurses are empowered with a voice to address those quality and safety and ethical care issues, and you all do that through interprofessional decision making, where the CNO and all the nurse leaders are accessible and meaningfully interact with the direct care team.”
