Randy Brannon Receives August 2017 Daisy Award

Caring for our patient’s families is just as important as caring for our patients. That’s why we want to recognize Randy Brannon, RN in the Critical Care Unit, as a Daisy Award winner! He ensured that a patient’s wife felt involved in the treatment plan and fully understood the results of procedures that were performed. Read a snip from the nomination she wrote:

Randy was my husband’s nurse for two days in critical care after he was admitted. He was the first nurse to make me, the patient’s wife, feel that my opinion in the care of my husband mattered and was valued. He asked about my concerns, told me the results of routine tests, worked to make my husband as comfortable as possible, all the while continuing care of the other patients and duties as the charge nurse. Randy listened to my concerns and went a step further by addressing those concerns or finding someone who could. The care my husband received was superior and the compassion un-measurable.

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
