Residency Director Named Service Hero for Her Leadership
We’d like to congratulate Dr. Ashley Jenkins, hospitalist for the Medical Group in Hot Springs, on being recognized as a CHI St. Vincent Service Hero! This nomination is special; unlike most recipients who are honored for a specific event, Dr. Jenkins is receiving this award for years of service in support of graduate medical education. Here’s her nomination (in part):
“I would like to nominate Dr. Ashley Jenkins for the Service Hero Award in recognition of her extraordinary leadership, dedication, and commitment to Graduate Medical Education. When our Internal Medicine Residency Program needed leadership in 2023, Dr. Jenkins stepped into the Associate Program Director role without hesitation. During the highly competitive SOAP process, she immediately took action by personally making recruitment calls and successfully helping recruit three of the six residents who graduated this year. Her efforts played a vital role in strengthening our residency program. In 2024, she accepted the additional responsibility of serving as Program Director, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to resident education and the continued growth of this program.
In 2025, Dr. Jenkins accepted the additional responsibility of serving as both Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and Designated Institutional Official (DIO). Under her leadership, the Internal Medicine Residency Program has continued to grow and thrive. In addition, she successfully led the development and launch of our new Transitional Year Residency Program, expanding graduate medical education opportunities within our institution. This achievement required countless hours of planning, collaboration, and unwavering dedication.
Dr. Jenkins consistently leads with integrity, compassion, and a servant’s heart. She is always willing to step in wherever needed, advocate for residents and faculty, and ensure the success of our programs. Her vision, resilience, and commitment have had a lasting impact on our institution and the future of physician education.”
Thank you, Dr. Jenkins. Your work is vital to the continued success of our GME program, and your leadership is exemplary. We’re proud to work with you!
