Security Officers Celebrated as Infirmary Service Heroes
Congratulations Josh Keys and Jason Martindale for being named Infirmary service heroes.
They were nominated by a coworker who witnessed their heroic efforts.
There was a patient in the ED who was seen by a doctor and discharged. The doctor was going to get food and a phone number to a shelter for the patient. That’s when the doctor witnessed the patient walking out of the ED and pulling a knife out to cut his wrist.
The doctor said security officers, Josh Keys and Jason Martindale, were right there and quickly de-escalated the patient without any violence. The triage tech, Kyla Jackson, also got involved and helped calm the patient down.
“I was really impressed by them and felt like they deserved recognition as things quickly could have worsened.”
