Shawn Barnett, Dr. Doug Ross Tapped to Lead Infirmary, Hot Springs

Shawn Barnett and Dr. Doug Ross are being promoted to fill leadership roles in the ministry.

Shawn Barnett, who currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer, will take an expanded role as Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this role, Shawn will be responsible for hospital operations, including leadership of the Infirmary, as well as financial management of the health system. Before joining CHI St. Vincent, Shawn served as the President and COO for CHI St. Luke’s–Memorial in Lufkin, Texas. He will relocate his office to Infirmary Administration and fill the role previously held by Polly Davenport.

Dr. Doug Ross, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for our ministry, is also expanding his role and will serve as President for Hot Springs. Under his leadership as CMO, our teams have made great progress on our quality and safety journey. Dr. Ross will fill the role left vacant after Tony Houston departs on Jan. 11.

The promotion of these leaders reduces two senior leadership positions as we continue adapting to changes in the health care landscape, including shorter hospital stays, reduced reimbursement and other challenges.

Other promotions announced include:

  • Marcia Atkinson from Vice President to President of the Heart Institute.
  • Chris Stines from Vice President to President of North.
  • Bryan Williams from Vice President of Patient Care Services for Hot Springs to an expanded Market Vice President role.
