Stay Healthy All Summer with These Tips

Summer’s many delights can pose a challenge to staying on top of your plan. But it’s totally normal to drift a bit. Luckily, there are lots of ways to accommodate your desire to have fun, travel, entertain—to enjoy all that the season has to offer—while not losing touch with your healthy habits.

Try these ideas to help you stay focused to your summer goals:

Keep moving. It helps you physically and mentally—and every little bit counts! With the warmer weather approaching, there are more opportunities to fit in fitness outside. You can ride bikes, take a hike or go swimming.

Partner up. Exercising with a friend makes an everyday workout fun. Schedule days to meet with your workout buddy, and you can help keep each other accountable.

Set mini goals (and celebrate yourself!) When long-term goals seem far away, downsize them. You can make small goals like exercising once a week or choosing fruits or vegetables for your afternoon snack. Reward yourself by celebrating these small wins. It doesn’t have to cost a thing: check out a book or DVD from the library, steal a 20-minute nap, make an iced tea and soak up the sun outside for a few minutes. Do something that makes you feel good about you—and do it often, all summer long!
