Sweethearts Volunteer at Infirmary, Learn About Stroke & Heart Disease

The latest class of Sweethearts recently toured the Infirmary.

The Sweetheart program was designed to teach young women about heart disease and strokes, the number one and number 5 causes of death in the United States. The participants attend educational classes, social events, volunteer at the hospital and help with fundraising efforts.

The program was founded in 1998 by Eileen and Dr. Ricardo Sotomora. Since its inception, almost 1,000 women have participated, donating countless community service hours.
